CRM Google Maps

Add a Map Feature to a CRM Contact

Microsoft CRM Deployment

February 20, 2011, by Bill Bonofiglo, Dynamics MCT

Abstract

Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0

Add, or integrate, Google Maps into your Microsoft CRM deployment the easy way.

JavaScript and ISV.Config

All you need is the right JavaScript code entered into the right node of the ISV.Config XML file. Done. Finished.

Let's use a Contact record from my Microsoft CRM Online deployment as an example. Notice the Google Maps button.

Image of a custom button.

By placing the JavaScript into the ISV.Config XML file, CRM creates the button and places it on the Contact form. That is very convenient. The JavaScript does the rest.

Having the JavaScript in the ISV.Config file is key. The custom button is created and it is linked to the code. All in one neat place. Is the code complicated you ask? Not really. I wrote it. It can't be to difficult! Wink emoticon

Click the Google Map Button

If there is not enough address information, you see this:

No address message

If the address is complete, you see this (in a new browser window):

Who can Benefit

Any Company using Microsoft Dynamics CRM that wants to pass a Customers address into Google Maps with the click of a button will find this very valuable.
